A TEENY-WEENY HISTORY OF BOOZEFEST
Boozefest was established in l989. It was the brainchild of a small group (Steve, Gail, Pam, Mel, Doug and Brian) who simply needed another excuse to gather with their friends and drink. A location was scouted out by Steve and Gall, along with Brad and Ella (later to marry one another). It was the perfect party spot.
Boozefest was originally held as a joint birthday celebration for Steve (born June 20) and Mel (born June 16).However, it rained heavily that first year, and subsequent Boozefests were moved to a different date in hopes of better weather. At the second annual Boozefest, Steve was unanimously dubbed "King of Boozefest" for his unsurpassed organizational skills and his keen insight into constructing a modular outhouse.
Boozefest has grown in popularity since that first year, and is fast becoming a legend. Up at the location; legend says, once a year on a still summer night, when the sun has set and the stars are out, if you listen very closely, a haunting, howling tune can be heard whispering through the trees....."tonight we are Boozefestering..."
